"Recently my husband aged 32 died in a fatal road accident. He had
built a portfolio of domain names and some developed websites. I need
to sell our domains and websites, so that I can raise money to pay the
bills. What advice can you give me?" -- Ruth Simpson, UK
I am very sorry to hear about your husband's tragic death. A domain name
isn't worth much unless it is generating some traffic (and hopefully income)
-- US $50 to $150 maybe. More for excellent names with a ready buyer who
can capitalize on it. Domain names can sometimes be sold at Afternic.com
Domain Name Exchange (www.afternic.com). Websites that have some traffic
may be worth something, especially if your husband had found a way to
generate some income from them. A website with some traffic that isn't
generating much revenue isn't worth too much -- maybe US $500 to several
thousand dollars for the "potential." I recommend that you contact a business
broker who works with Internet businesses. You'll find more information
on this in articles and resources at "Selling
an Internet Business" section of the Web Marketing Info Center. http://www.wilsonweb.com/cat/cat.cfm?page=1&subcat=mm_BizSale
