In this video interview usability expert Glenn Alsup outlines some of the underlying usability principles in terms of best practices: (1) Common Sense - links work and text is readable. (2) Familiarity - use icons and metaphors people are familiar with. (3) Navigation - sitemap and "bread crumb" trail. (4) Simplity - make it easy for the customer rather than complex and confusing. (5) Response Time - limit number of images, need to scroll, and too much content on a single page. (6) Feedback.

Glenn Alsup is President of Viewmark (www.viewmark.com), a Web development in Denver, Colorado, which helps medium-sized companies and organizations to attract, engage and retain their target audience and customers, from marketing and methods to measurement.
