On my truck I have in very large letters: www.Never Clean Gutters Again .com. Three times a week I get requests to do estimates for the work I do. I also leave a sign on the lawn of a completed job that says my web address. I try to use the web address in conversation with customers so the idea sinks in.
It is my philosophy that it is easier to remember the web address when it is used.
I could do so much more with local advertising of the web address. For example, what about a jingle. At first I started saying to myself: never clean gutter again .com to the tune of the Wizard of Oz... Go ahead and try it... the .com being the oh my! Then I started to sing the words to a clasic Irish Jig. da da da da da da da da da. It is camp and crass advertisement for a product that everyone takes seriously. I plan to run it on local radio -- just two choruses (a ten second spot) -- often througout the day. People will think it is wild and I believe it will be remembered and sung in their own heads. If you could hear the jingle I bet you would agree. I've tried it on a few people and it shocks.
Even after I make a sale of a gutter cover installation, I tell the customer that if they visit my website -- and complete the online request for a free estimate just as a matter of course -- they will recieve $25.00 off the cost of their installation. This way they use the site, visit the site, and, hopefully, remember the site and e-mail the site to a friend.
