Note: This book is now in a new edition with a new name: Dan' Janal's Guide to Marketing on the Internet.
Any book in its third edition must be doing something right. Dan Janal's Online Marketing Handbook (1998 Edition) has just been released, a very useful, up-to-date compendium of information about Web marketing. It succeeds in doing what any good handbook should: provide important how-to information about a wide range of topics within a particular discipline. I find myself recommending this book as perhaps the best current overview of the entire field
While the book is targeted at professional marketers to help them develop an online marketing plan that is integrated with their company's overall marketing strategy, entrepreneurs and small business owners will also benefit. Janal includes excellent information about a number of online marketing strategies.
If you're look for a sound, comprehensive book about online marketing, you don't need to look farther. The book also includes a number of brief case studies about companies both large and small that have experienced success in their Internet marketing efforts. Janal describes a number of ways to promote a site, e-mail do's and don'ts, banner advertising plans, selling products directly, PR via the Internet, and a host of other topics.
