How to Select an SEO Company - Jill Whalen (7:06)

Dr. Ralph F. Wilson , Web Marketing Today - Oct 13, 2009

In this video interview, SEO expert Jill Whalen discusses how to selcet an SEO firm.

Questions to ask about an SEO company include: How long have theyi been in business? Can you talk to some of their clients? How transparent are they about what they are going to do for you? Are they doing keyword research? Are they checking your competitors? Are they recommending site architecture changes?

Some things that SEO companies often do that may not be needed in a particular site include: XML sitemaps, PageRank sculpting with NoFollow tags, changing URLs to include keywords, submitting the site to search engines, and putting headlines in H1 tags.

Jill Whalen is CEO of HighRankings.com, an organic SEO firm the provides education, consultation, and client work as need for particular sites. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. This interview was taped at the Search Engine Strategies Conference in San Jose, California, August 12, 2009.
