How to Avoid Forensic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Amanda Watlington (6:43)Dr. Ralph F. Wilson Web Marketing Today - Jan 28, 2009 |
In this video interview Amanda Watlingon explains how to avoid "forensic SEO," that is, search engine optimization done after a site has gone live. Instead Watlington recommends: (1) planning an appropriate content manager (CMS) for the website, and (2) write content with a customer-oriented, problem-solving approach. she recommends doing keyword research prior to writing content. That way the content flows naturally from the keywords, rather than being stuffed in later. (3) Content is customer-focused, with a "you" not "I" orientation. (4) Don't launch your website in haste, but leave it in a beta stage long enough to get the bugs out.
Amanda Watlington is the principal of SearchingForProfit.com, a search firm that is sensitive to new approaches to search.
