Theme: Significant New E-Commerce Products
Issue 36, July 15, 2000
Dear Friends,
This month I've spent many hours exploring products which will be of interest to storeowners, both small and large. Stone Edge Order Manager provides a vital order fulfillment software bridge between website orders and your accounting system. FreeMerchant.com offers some excellent features for low costs, and PlanetPayment.com will be welcome news to international merchants who have had difficulty in obtaining a merchant credit card account. In the near future I'll review FreeMerchant's chief competitor, BigStep.com.
God bless you,
Dr. Ralph F. Wilson, Editor
Product Review: Stone Edge Order Manager
One of the big gaps for small online retailers is tracking order fulfillment. The order comes in via the Web, but keeping track of shipping and sending it out is often haphazard. This program designed for Open Market ShopSite merchants automates the process. Read the Review.
Product Review: FreeMerchant.com
The two top free e-commerce programs are FreeMerchant.com and BigStep.com. As I studied FreeMerchant I found a surprisingly strong product with a number of excellent features. Read the Review.
Product Brief: PlanetPayment.com
Until now, non-US merchants have had a tough time finding a way to get a merchant credit card account so they can sell products in US dollars. PlanetPayment.com provides an answer. Read the Brief.
Product Brief: JavaScript to prevent Double-Click Submits
Authorize.net is marketing a third-party JavaScript that prevents double-click submissions, where the impatient customer gets tired of waiting for the credit card to process and clicks again, thus creating a second order for the same amount. A simple JavaScript code is pasted between <HEAD> tags, and when the customer clicks on the submit button a second time, it replies with the message, "You have already submitted this payment. Please wait...." While the freely available documentation supplies the code, the author, Alan Pinstein of Synergy Solutions, Inc., requests payment of $100 for use. http://www.authorizenet.com/support/3rdparty/info.php3?id=4
