StoreFront 2000
Affiliate Program Software Characteristics & User Feedback
Web Commerce Today, Issue 46, May 15, 2001
Research for this survey of affiliate program software was conducted in early May 2001. The top part of the form is from material obtained from the software's website. Material at the bottom of the form is based on feedback from our readers who use the software. Their remarks are candid, and are not necessarily the opinion of the editor or publisher. If you have experience with using affiliate program software to manage an affiliate program, I'd appreciate your candid feedback about the program you use at www.wilsonweb.com/survey/affiliate-software.cfm

Positives: |
Super easy to implement, the Storefront newsgroup is extremely helpful, ability to custom program almost any feature that you need (you aren't locked into a canned program), and my consultant who does my custom programming. |
|
Negatives: |
Needs custom programming to really work well for an affiliate program. However, the good news is that it is a shopping cart with this feature. You can implement the feature very easily when you are small at zero extra cost and if your site is a success ... you can custom program your affiliate program to your specific needs. |
|
Purchase Again? |
Yes, I like the flexibility that I have with Storefront. I start the sites that I manage at very little cost to the owners and as they make money I add custom features. |

Other comments: |
Many of the shopping cart programs use dynamic URLs. Storefront
has this feature, too, but I would never recommend using these URLs for standard
product pages. I always use static URLs which are more search engine friendly. A
website owner should consider each product page as an optimized doorway into the
site for search engines. Another site I manage ... uses Storefront's static URLs
and each page is optimized for search engines. This is a major criteria which a
shopping cart has to have for me to recommend the cart to my clients.
Storefront got my vote because it has some incredible features in its standard program. Later as my sites grow, it can be custom programmed for each site's unique requirements. Also, I could use static URLs. |
