CGI Programs

These are programs that can be installed in the CGI directory of your own server. What I've mentioned here are applications that smaller businesses might host in-house. Others, listed under Hosted Applications, include UnityMail, Listserv, ListProc, and Lyris.

Mailman http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/mailman.html Free Software Foundation, Inc Type: CGI Freeware, installed on most Unix systems. Separate webpage for each lists for subscribing and unsubscribing. |

Majordomo http://www.greatcircle.com/majordomo/ Great Circle Associates Type: CGI Classic freeware listserver program, originally written in 1992. Provides list maintenance functions of sub, unsub, and limited bounce handling. Good up for to about 10K to 15K size list max. Often included free or at low cost with webhosting service.
