2CheckOut.com is similar to CCNow, but with lower rates and, unlike CCNow, it allows sales of digital products. 2CheckOut does not accept sales of "adult" products or services. There is a one-time $49 set-up fee. Sales are 5.5% plus a 45¢ transaction fee, with no monthly fees like CCNow presently charges. Nor are there fees for ACH deposits to US or participating Canadian bank accounts. International merchants can have payments airmailed to them or sent via wire transfer. Payments are made every two weeks.
Like CCNow, for legal purposes, 2CheckOut becomes the seller; you are the supplier of goods and services. 2CheckOut accepts online checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Diners, JCB and debit cards (with the Visa or MasterCard logo). Customers must enter the orders themselves online; merchants are not authorized to take telephone, fax, or mail orders and enter customer information themselves.
2CheckOut provides a simple way to set up order buttons for single purchases. They include an e-products download system, a membership site system, a plug-n-play shopping cart, and a Perl shopping cart. The company claims that their gateway can be incorporated into almost any shopping cart that supports the Authorize.net gateway.
2CheckOut's administration screen can be used to keep track of order management and to send customer e-mails upon shipping.
While prices are given in US dollars on the order form, purchasers are encouraged to pay in their own currency to cut their currency exchange costs. If the purchaser's currency is available, the amount of sale is then displayed in that currency. Currencies included are: Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, Honk Kong, and US dollars, British Pounds; Swiss Franks; Euros; Norwegian, Danish and Swedish Kroner; and Japanese Yen.
Feedback about 2CheckOut on Google Groups doesn't surface merchants with serious problems.
If you're just trying to get started in e-commerce and want to avoid the costs of a merchant account for now. Or if you're an international merchant that needs to be able to sell online, 2CheckOut.com seems like a good choice to investigate to see if it meets your needs. With prices lower than ClickBank and CCNow, and without CCNow's monthly minimums, it looks attractive.
