Dr. Ralph F. Wilson, E-Commerce Consultant

Dear Friends,

Before we get to them, I want to invite you to some basic training for Web marketing and e-commerce that I'm offering this fall -- online, no traveling, no long-distance phone calls. In one week you'll be up-to-speed and ready to implement your fall and holiday strategies.

Plus $281 in bonus e-books and a free headset (US & Canada). Early bird prices save you $22 if you're prompt. • How to Sell Products and Services on the Internet. Five sessions cover: how to select a shopping cart, survey of the most popular carts, payment systems, product fulfillment, customer service, and boosting conversion rates. I hope to be your enabler for a prosperous season ahead!

On a more somber note, my heart goes out to my Muslim friends who are mourning the terrible assassination of Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim in Najaf. I hurt for you!

God bless you,
Dr. Ralph F. Wilson

P.S. Wearing my pastor hat, I'll be teaching this fall on the Book of Revelation from the Bible. You're welcome to join at no charge. First wave begins Sept 13, 2003. So far we have 1,600 participants from 68 countries registered. http://www.jesuswalk.com/revelation/?c1=wmt128&source=joy&kw=rev

How to Use Pop-Up Windows Effectively and Responsibly

Pop-ups can be extremely annoying. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't use them. It means you should train them, teach them manners. In this occasionally humorous article, I describe the marketing importance of two kinds of pop-ups: (1) small windows that open when your customer clicks on a hyperlink, and (2) small windows that open automatically when a visitor comes to your website. Each has its own marketing value and rules for use. Read the Article. http://www.wilsonweb.com/wmt8/popups_how.htm

Resources about Pop-Up Windows

If you've tried in vain to find the right JavaScript code to open and manipulate pop-ups, look no further. Some of the tutorials included will help even novices begin to understand how JavaScript works to make webpages more functional. Here, I've included references to some of the scripts I've found and adapted for use, as well as other programs that look useful. See the Resources. http://www.wilsonweb.com/wmt8/popups_resources.htm

Articles on Pop-Up Windows

Pop-up windows are controversial -- and helpful. As some of you know, one of the services my team makes to the Internet community is to collect the best articles and resources we find every month and add them to the free Web Marketing Info Center collection. We also look for e-commerce materials and add annotated links to the E-Commerce Research Room (for paid subscribers). Each month we add about 200 annotated, searchable article links and remove about 50 to 100 bad links. Currently we have nearly 11,000 articles and resources in 112 categories to make research quick and easy in the fields of Internet marketing and e-commerce. There's nothing on the Web anywhere to match it. Here are 50+ articles that come up under a search for the word "pop-up". They'll help you see other viewpoints and learn more. See the Article Abstracts. http://www.wilsonweb.com/search/search_results.cfm?page=1&querytype=simple&criteria=pop-up

New Ecommerce and Web Marketing Articles

Each month our team of link editors scours dozens of online periodicals and resources to find key information on e-commerce and Web marketing. With so much new literature available to you, how do you find what you need quickly and painlessly? Here's a selective and searchable database of article and resource links to help your research and keep you up-to-date in the field. (Links gathered in a given month are usually available during the second week of the following month.)
