Google Search Engine Dominance
Web Marketing Today, Issue 130, November 5, 2003
Which search engines are driving traffic in the US? This isn't a scientific survey, just a report of search engine traffic coming to select pages of my WilsonWeb.com site June 1- October 8 2003. Your results may well be different.

This tells us what we already knew -- that Google is dominant. If you consider that Google also fed Yahoo and AOL search listings during this time period, then Google traffic amounted to 90% of the search engine driven traffic to my site. That's huge. No wonder Yahoo! and Microsoft are preparing to go head-to-head with Google in the future.
What I learn from this is that Google is the US search engine to focus on. Optimizing for any other search engine right now is superfluous.
