It's been four Internet Years since I released my Report on Affiliate Management Software (May 2004). Lots has changed with then. I've been working hard on the second edition of this popular book.

This article explains the kinds of functionality basic to all affiliate management software. The author considers new trends in features and assesses their actual importance to the typical merchant. Then he discusses in detail 13 different features, where they can make a difference, and what software vendors offer them.
